T-5 Days...

Hello! Well I didn't get chosen for the The Working Holiday Club bloggers... but I'm going to continue anyway! Currently feel like a drowned rat in the UK after the amount of rain that's fallen in the last few days, CANT WAIT FOR SNOW EVENTUALLY! So for a bit about the GoPro Hero 3 and my new boots read on!

The title sums up exactly how I  feel right now... counting down the days til the 28th is so ANNOYING! It's going so slowly... 16 days left though - so stoked. But whilst I'm waiting to post some stuff that's more interesting/useful or meaningful here's the first in the new Salomon Freeski TV Series!

FFF - Fun, Fist-bumps and Friendships!

Brief intro -

My names Adam (or Barty), I'm 22 years old, and originally only wanted to come to Whistler Blackcomb to mountain bike. All that changed when I got to uni and learnt to ski on the annual trips out to the Alps. From then on I was bitten - can't stop me now!!!

I originally started this blog a month ago to keep my family  informed (and friends slightly envious... ) about what I was up to whilst also hopefully helping any future Canadian seasonnaires. But now I'm restarting with a new layout and a new approach to document this next chapter. So to start, I'm going to write about why I wanted to go, how I got there, who helped me and what I'm most excited about!

Countdown!

So it's a cold Friday morning and all I can think about at work is if it was 10 degrees colder and raining it may be snowing. Unfortunately it's not the case but finally I'm within a month of departure!!! 23 days to go!!!

I'm currently working on the blog so please excuse when it looks terrible/breaks!

Getting to Canada

First of all! Sorry I take so long between blogs, I get distracted and forget occasionally, hopefully this will improve!

Visa - check
Job - check

Next step is getting there. Some people I've spoken to are already travelling so made their plans ages ago, others are heading over to America for a while to do some sight seeing and go to Canada from there. Australia TWHC members found out all their details first so booked their flights early with many changing in New Zealand and/or somewhere in Asia although their prices with their providers seemed very expensive. Having looked at flights from the UK there were a variety of options what class, when, who with, where from and to so in general... HOW DO I GET THERE!!!

It was a bit overwhelming at first but was easy to narrow down due to the prices.

Getting the $$$$

Next step is finding a job now you have your CV. From the looks of it if you don't go through a scheme it can be tricky as to get a visa you need a job...but to get a job...not useful!

Getting a Canadian visa!

Then the next most important part...getting a visa and finding a job. Despite currently working in a bank to earn money to fund this trip I won't be able to survive 6 months without working on a holiday/visitor visa! So I needed to get my work visa, this could be done through different work program's however I went with International Experience Canada Programme <http://tinyurl.com/c2yleo6>, these are limited to roughly 5,300 applicants so applying early is a must!

Update on the layout - rubbish. Having done IT you would think that I'd get this sorted quickly... but I have neither the time nor motivation! So will be settling for a basic layout and fiddle with pictures when I get some in Whistler.

So why Whistler Blackcomb? 

Start of an era...

Right well I've never done a blog before! So here I go.

To summarise me. I'm a recent graduate of Loughborough Uni studying ITMB, got my 2.1! Whilst I was looking at what to do for work and life after I went through the usual two thoughts... work or travel?

Work - work in the city (which is where I want to end up) but commit to an office life for years to come
Traveling - go travelling have amazing times then come back broke...

SKI SEASON - get better at skiing, work and travel ....PERFECT.

So in this blog I'm just going to be chatting about the build up to heading out, whilst I'm out there and stuff like that! Any questions just comment :)
